Hacienda Tres Rios was a fabulous all-inclusive resort and one I would definitely recommend. The rooms were very upscale and lived up to their photos on the website, and the pool was very large and meandering, plenty of room for everyone, although there was no swim-up bar). The food was very good and there was a good amount of variety although we would not have wanted to stay more than four nights because I think we would have tired of it a bit after that. The pizza restaurant was particularly good. The buffet was a bit bland but the restaurants were all very good. One thing they don't advertise that we thoroughly enjoyed was a ride in a catamaran that is included in the price of your stay. They are down on the beach every day giving half hour rides, don't miss it, you just have to sign up and wait your turn. We also took the kayak tour which was very enjoyable;although very disorganized. We went on an off-site tour one day and they offered to pack us a box lunch, how nice was that? It was fairly meager but it was free and came in very handy. I would recommend that you tell them what you would like in it if you do this. Another thing we thoroughly enjoyed were the "beds", yes beds they put on the beach for their guests to enjoy. There's a picture of them on the website. They had a canopy on the top. You can't imagine how nice it is to lay on the pillows, shaded from the sun, listening to the ocean crash on the shore. Take a book, take a nap, but don't miss enjoying those beds on the ocean, they were simply marvelous.

This was our fourth trip to Playa del Carmen and Hacienda Tres Rios was the nicest place we have been to. The food was excellent, beautiful presentation, the service was excellent. One tip - make sure you bring your own sun screen. We ended up paying $*.00 for it at the gift shop. They also made it difficult to get small change in pesos, for tips. The staff was excellent everyone tried very hard to give good service. Our room was beautiful.

We just spent the week at the Hacienda Tres Rios, our 2nd trip there in two years. So much more has opened up, more rooms, another restaraunt, more Sonetes, more activities, more/better beach area. We had a good time two years ago, we had a GREAT time this past week! None of us are sure what our most favorite part was, but I think it was the food, or maybe the staff. The buffett is great, but the Asian restaraunt is also fantastic. I never thought I would love Sushi from Mexico, but I do! Thank you to all the Staff, everybody is always so friendly and nice, always ready to help in any way they can. Shauna at the concierge desk was our go to gal, anytime we were in the lobby and needed something she was there to help. My mother was sick one day and Shauna was generally concerned sending the Dr to check on her. And of course Sammy, what can you say other than he makes you feel like you are home. He's an assett to the Resort, always there, always busy, but always time for a heartfelt hello and how are you. All in all it was a fantastic week and we can't wait to go back next year!!

The Hotel in itself was beautiful, well kept, the staff was great, friendly and very informative. The only draw back is that the Hotel is so far out of the way for walking to the City limits. If you wanted to go into the town of Playa del Carmen or Cancun the City, you had to rent a Taxi, which is not cheap, the cost for 2 was about * dollars round trip. Granted you could take the local min-vans, but it would take you twice the time of taxi ride to reach your destination. The food at the hotel was just OK, as we are of hispanic origin, we travel to Mexico to enjoy the authenticity of the Mexican cusine, which was lacking at this hotel. The drinks were also watered down and without taste. Luckily the hotel was in all-inclusive, so we were able to drink canned soda, beer and bottled water without limits. We would stay in this hotel again, just for the tranquility and relaxing ambiance it provides.
